The relevant decrees and resolutions on the issue have not been implemented yet. This decreases the respect and trust towards international organizations”.
“Azerbaijan has faced with humanitarian catastrophe for 20 years. The historical land of Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh including surrounding seven regions recognized by the international community has been under Armenian invasion for 20 years. And this occupation is still continuing”, said the president of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in his speech at the International Humanitarian Forum, APA reports.
The president said that Armenia is pursuing ethnic cleansing policy against Azerbaijanis: “All Azerbaijanis have been banished form Nagorno Karabakh and its surrounding regions. The average number of refugees in Azerbaijan is more than any other countries of the world. There are more than one million of refugee and internally displaced people in our country. They can not return back to their own lands as Armenia continues its invasion policy. Our people have suffered lots of tragedies. Armenians committed genocide in Khojali, innocence people including women, children were killed savagely. Our religious, cultural monuments were destroyed by Armenians. They committed genocide both against our people and our culture.
The head of the Azerbaijani state underlined that the perpetrators of the very genocide have not been blamed by the international community:” It is true that, the international organizations and even the leading organizations of the world have adopted enough resolutions on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Unfortunately, these resolutions have not been implemented yet. In this case, the respect and trust towards the resolutions by the international organizations are decreasing. The U.N. Security Council adopted a resolution on liberation of Azerbaijani territories 20 years ago.
None of them is being carried out. All other reputable international organizations, including the Council of Europe, European Parliament, Organization of Islamic Cooperation, NATO and the others also adopted similar resolutions. The world community recognizes the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. But the conflict has not been solved yet. The main reason of it is that Armenia is interested in prolonging the current status quo. But they must understand that status quo can’t remain unchanged. It will be changed and we want it to happen soon and peacefully. Because we have already started to play a role of stabilizer in the region and of course, attempt to ensure stability in the region. But on the other hand it is impossible to accept this occupation fact. That’s why I consider that, it is high time to solve the conflict. Armenia should fully obey the international law norms, resolutions of international organizations and unconditionally withdraw its armed forces from the occupied lands. In this case, we can achieve the real peace and cooperation in the region. Despite the problem, our country has passed long and successful way towards the independence. Political reforms conducted in Azerbaijan contributing creation of free society. There is a freedom in Azerbaijan, political reforms, development of democracy are continuing successfully. At the same time, reforms in economy reinforce political reforms. Because, the political reforms without economic basis sometimes lead to failure, and we know it from history. Therefore, economic and political reforms are being conducted on parallel lines in Azerbaijan. We have achieved great successes in economy recently.
