President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev met with President of Iran Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, APA reports. The sides underlined the importance of the 12th summit of the Economic Cooperation Organization, expressed their confidence that the event would contribute to enhancing the cooperation. The heads of state expressed their satisfaction with the development of political, economic, cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Iran, underlined that there was good potential to enhance relations in economy, trade, energy, transport and other spheres.
The presidents said cultural, historical affinity created basis for improvement of our relations, noted that the development of the relations between our countries would contribute to the regional cooperation.
Underlining the importance of the high-level visits between the two countries presidents expressed their confidence that the bilateral relations would further develop.
The sides exchanged views on a number of issues of mutual interest.
