Azerbaijan hosts International Conference on “Construction of Bridges”

27.09.2012International conference on “Construction of Bridges” has started in Baku. The conference was organized by the Association of Civil Society Development in Azerbaijan (AVCIYA). Chairman of AVCIYA, MP Elkhan Suleymanov delivered a keynote speech and spoke about the democratization process in Azerbaijan in recent years and cooperation processes with Europe. He said that the Nagorno Karabakh problem is not a conflict; it is an aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan and the occupation of the territories. Criticizing the activity of international organizations Suleymanov underlined that the OSCE Minsk Group have done nearly nothing for the solution of the conflict during its activity about 20 years.

Suleyamanov also spoke about the Armenians’ reactions over the extradition Azerbaijani officer Ramil Safarov to the country and his pardoning. He noted that more than 600 peaceful people were killed under the leadership of Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan 20 years ago. Armenians killed 1250 civilians in Azerbaijan despite the ceasefire regime.

Director of the Institute for European Affairs (INEA), Professor Jurgen Gramke said in his speech that Europe has little information about Azerbaijan: “Today’s event will be a very good step forward”.
