PACE adopted the first document defining criterion of “political prisoner”
Today, discussions on political prisoner concept were held at the PACE autumn plenary session. The report, prepared by German MP Cristopher Shtrasser on “defining political prisoners” and “Political Prisoners in Azerbaijan” was heard at the plenary session of the Assembly, APA’s correspondent at PACE reports. Relevant Commission of the Azerbaijani Parliament made a statement against the resolution of the European Parliament (EP) on Ramil Safarov. APA reports that the statement was adopted after the voting. The statement expresses regret to the EP resolution. It was also noted that the extradition of Ramil Safarov to Azerbaijan and his pardoning were carried out in accordance with local laws and international conventions.
